MUMBAI, Jan 9 (Reuters) – India’s inspired performances against Australia in recent years and their 2-0 test series win in November helped convince other teams the world’s top-ranked side was beatable, India paceman Zaheer Khan said.
Australia lost 2-1 to South Africa at home, avoiding a whitewash by pulling off a last-minute victory in the final test at Sydney this week to cling on to the number one test ranking. “We’ve started it all,” left-arm bowler Zaheer told CNN-IBN TV channel on Friday.
“Australia are definitely a good side, but they are beatable,” he said. “So that’s what I think all the teams are believing now and they (Australia) are going to have tough times ahead now.”
Zaheer took 11 wickets and young fast bowler Ishant Sharma 15 to play crucial roles in the home series against Australia, striking early and troubling the batsmen by reverse-swinging the old ball on dry pitches.
India handed Australia all their four defeats which came between the 2005 Ashes loss and the South Africa series.
“We definitely have done very well against Australia in the last few years, which reassures us that we are on the right path.”
India are currently third in the world test rankings, behind Australia and South Africa.
It shows that any team without Symonds, Warne, McGrath, Langer and Gilchrist is beatable

Thats his opinion mate, it wasnt offensive at all, yep, he is right in saying that Australia is beatable but I dont agree with when he says “we’ve started it all”.
He THINKS that Indians were responsible for their downfall, but it was mainly due to the retirements of key players
Of course Australia is beatable. All teams are. Zaheer and Ishant both bowled well and deserved their plaudits. But for Zaheer to come out and say that “we started it all”, well he is entitled to his opinion. The facts do say otherwise. Australia has won one series in India in 40 years so another series win in the sub continent is nothing unusual. Had India beaten Australia in Australia like SA did, that would be a different matter all-together.
Stupid is a very harsh word….
Zaheer is like many players who are excited because there is some competion in test cricket now…..
i dont think that us cricket fans should worry about what happens out of the field….
we should only make comment on players according to their performance on the feild….
After reading the whole thing I fail to understand how Zaheer is stupid; may be my poor comprehension of the language. All I can see is he made some decent and personal remarks. If this is stupidity… well, what is astuteness??

On Dec 15, it was reported that a few trolls broke away from the troll prison and beat up Zaheer. Ever since then, Zaheer has been notorious for making stupid comments. It is speculated that he has been hit hard by the troll virus and may even convert to a troll in a year’s time. He is undergoing trollofication tests & the media is waiting for the results. To the person above ( not directly above) Symonds was not dropped for the SCG test.

Any team in modern cricket is beatable unlike the “Invincibles”
But i think what Zaheer is trying to say is that Australia is dropping.
As in its now just a bit above countries like S.Africa, India, NZ, S.Lanka in terms of level, skill, etc.
